Ilias is Research and Teaching Fellow at the Department of Business Administration of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), where he teaches various Management and Negotiation courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He received a Bsc in Business Administration from the AUEB, an MSc in Business Information Technology from the University of Manchester, and a Ph.D. in Management from the AUEB. His PhD thesis, for which he received a 4-year scholarship from AUEB-Research Center (PENED03), focused on the roles of perceptions of organisational politics and justice on several job-related outcomes.
His research interests are in the areas of negotiations, and particularly the factors that motivate individuals to initiate negotiations, as well as in political influence in organizations, with particular reference to the role of political will and political skill. His research work has been published in prestigious US and European academic journals including the Journal of Vocational Behavior, Group Decision and Negotiation, International Journal of Human Resource Management, and Negotiation & Conflict Management Research (the official journal of the association of conflict management. Furthermore, he has presented several papers in top international conferences including the Academy of Management, the British Academy of Management, the International Association of Conflict Management, and the European Group for Organisational Studies.
In addition, he has participated in a large number of EU and international research projects. The most recent project he has participated involves the impact of the organizational context on human capital development and motivation (research project ARISTEIA), and the international project pertaining to Strategic Planning Practices in the United Arab Emirates Public Sector (UAE National Research Fund).
Apart from his research and teaching experience, he has worked as a senior consultant in a small-medium consulting company providing his expertise on developing business plans and ensuring their successful implementation. He has also worked on several projects for government organizations and private industry (e.g., National Bank of Greece, ELKEDE, ATE Leasing, PAKO) and taught a number of executive training courses on management in various companies and organizations (e.g., Hellenic Fuels, Hellenic Post).
He is also a member of the Academy of Management, the British Academy of Management, and the International Association of Conflict Management.
